Definition of the Recall Cue & Our Goal Behavior

What does the recall cue mean? What would we like our dog to do when he/she hears this word?

The recall cue "Come!" or your chosen cue, will act as a signal to your dog that you wish him/her to come and sit or stand directly in front of and facing you.

Let's further clarify:

The initial goal will be that your dog responds to the recall cue by moving into position directly in front of and facing you from very short distances, when already moving towards you, in non-distracting environments.

The goal that we aim you to achieve by playing all of the training games in your e-book is that your dog responds to the recall cue "Come!", or your alternative chosen word, by moving into position directly in front of and facing you from distances of up to 20-feet (6m). N.B. If desired, this criterion can be changed to 'dog lengths' to make it more appropriate for each individual dog!

The final goal will be that your dog happily and reliably moves into position in front of and facing you from any distance, in any environment, in response to your recall cue. This final goal is one that can be developed in training classes and/or through continued in-home practice.
