Dogs don’t speak English (or Spanish, French, Chinese, or …).

Given that dogs will never be able to learn more than a few simple human words, we must do our best to learn theirs—an extensive, expressive body language capable of communicating much more than most dog lovers realize.

Understanding canine body language and how dogs use it to communicate their needs and diffuse conflict helps dog walkers accurately distinguish appropriate dog behavior.
